This roleplay is pretty in depth, so I've placed a list of characters, along with the plot-ish idea and subplots.
The cops are trying to takedown the current crime family in power, they arrest the best friend or family member or whatever of this guy in a rival crime family. He is forced to help my girl, a detective who goes undercover and such. Romance and drama and danger ensues.
Side plot stuff includes, the serial killer, cop boyfriend, mental problems, shifter stuff.

All of those definitely, and I found this thing called depersonalizations disorder, it's a type of dissociation
So what happened to her exactly was, she used to be in training to be an FBI agent, they brought her in to work on a case about this serial killer, he ended up killing a other member of the task force, and this traumatized her. So she returned to Boston to work under her father, should she have spent time at a psychiatric facility or no? She hid it well enough that they cleared her even though everything isn't fine?
In any case, she recently returned to work only to get immediately involved with all of this
how old are they?

The dully lit room didn't do justice to the face of one of the notorious, yet uncatchable crime boss's youngest son. His hair was a swath of darkness, jet-black and tinted with waves. His hair swept into his eyes, however, right now they were lowered to the table. The man hadn’t moved since being thrust into the chair and instantly judged a rapist and a crime lord, by the officers that picked him up. Now, he waited. He’d been still for so long he looked like stone. Pale fingers laced together, stark against the dark of his jacket. Around his neck hung a silver and black raven, the only symbol of the boy’s roots. Until his eyes flicked up to the two-way mirror. An undeniable, piercing blue. Ones that could make anyone freeze and stare into the moon-like disks of the man’s eyes. Brenden Bolton was the son of Reece Bolton, the notorious, crime boss, and a raven shifter. His son was like him. Smooth pale skin, luminous eyes, and although Reece had grayed over the years, he had once had jet-black hair. Now, all Brenden could do was wait, completely still for whatever detective came in to interrogate, or just thrust information at him while he stared them down.
