Olivia let her gaze wonder around the little coffee shop as she waited for Remy to come interview her. She was trying to think of anything but the interview and was constantly looking for things to distract her while she waited. The small shop itself was enough to keep most of her thoughts preoccupied. It was so warm and cozy… the plush seats, the nice fireplace that was lit when it was cold outside, like now. She could just imagine herself working here. It was a quiet enough place that she knew she wouldn’t always have to be working. In between customers she would be able to study for her classes if she felt like it. And although the lighting was dim, the large windows letting in the light rays of the sun was enough to keep a good balance of light to dark. As she thought of it she glanced out the window beside the booth the interview was to take place. She watched as many cars passed by at a slow crawl, and the unlucky few who walked like she had been before coming in. Someone in particular caught her eyes and she had to do a double take before realizing it wasn’t who she thought it was. Her brother, Michael, also the closest in age to her out of the four siblings, was supposed to be visiting her sometime that week. He had a knack for always trying to surprise her even after already announcing that he would be coming. Growing up Liv had always been easy to scare, and still was, but Michael had turned it into a game between the two of them, always playing tricks on her. She didn’t mind, sometimes she even managed to surprise her brother every once in awhile, but of course she wasn’t very good at it. Tearing her gaze away from the window, she looked up just in time to see Remington head her way.
She simply smiled slightly in reply to his greeting as she took the notebook and pen from him. ”Ok.. I can do that.” the last part wasn’t really towards Remy, but more so that she could reassure herself. She started with her name, Olivia Deutch, then wrote in the address of her small apartment and her cell phone number beneath that. What else could be useful.. biting the inside of her cheek, it took a moment for Liv to come up with a few other things before jotting them down. Among them were previous jobs she’d had, like babysitting and working at an uncle’s restaurant. She glanced up in the middle of writing the name of the restaurant when Remy spoke again. Her hazel eyes met his own blue ones with a hint of surprise swirling in the green and brown depths. Surprise because she’d sort of forgotten about the prospect of names in her nervous state. ”Oh! I’m Olivia.. but um some people call me Liv, or uh Olive?” she hadn’t meant for it to sound like a question, but she supposed in a way she was asking which name he would end up calling her by.

Remy let himself find comfort in the seat, his whole body relaxing once he moved from his uncomfortable position of sitting with his elbows on the table to leaning back into the booth seat. He lifted up his arms, stretching as a yawn escaped his mouth. He really needed to catch up on sleep. He figured by now, he was about 48 hours behind. He figured he must have suffered from some form of insomnia, because even when he was deadly tired he could never fall asleep. It was as if everything that was wrong with his life decided to fill his head and once he started to think more and more, sleep was far the least of his problems. "Olivia... I like that. It kind of reminds me of my great-aunt." Okay, maybe he was wrong for relating this girl to his great aunt, who was basically an old whore before her death about 5 years ago. He felt bad, so he began again, "Well, not really. But her name was Olivia and it was the first thing that came to my mind....." His words drifted away as embarrassment settled over his features. His cheeks tinged to the lightest shade of pink, his gaze shifting downwards to avoid his while he gathered himself. Remy turned his head to the side, looking of the café and all the people inside of it. He couldn't imagine working in a better place. It was easy-going, the drinks weren't all complicated as they would be at Starbucks. And everybody he worked with was pretty cool. After composing himself, he looked back at her. His smile was small, but it was still enough to make his dimples appear of either side of his lips. "How about Lia?" When he spoke this time, all signs of his recent embarrassment was gone, and he was back to his confident self. He had managed to compose himself quickly, which was good. No need of dwelling on the past. His phone buzzed again on the table, and swiftly his eyes met with the screen as he read the message. Another party tonight. Maybe he would actually go to one. "Are you from here?" He asked Olivia. Although they had just met, he kind of hoped that she would go out with him. To a party. He needed someone knew to hang around.

Good too, so tired of school though :/ Really? That's so nice! I think I have 3 or 4 weeks left...
As Remy visibly relaxed, Olivia unconsciously did as well. He seemed to have a… somewhat calming effect on her, even if he wasn’t purposely trying. As he leaned back, she leaned forward in her seat, resting her cheek in the palm of her hand as she watched him curiously. He looked tired, and she wondered if it was because of this job. Perhaps her earlier thoughts on working at the café being pretty easy had been wrong. Her thoughts on his lack of sleep though were interrupted when he mentioned something about his great-aunt. What had he said? She backtracked in her mind and came up with him saying she reminded him of his great-aunt. That couldn’t be it, could it? Yet as he continued talking she realized that had been what he said. She winced slightly, glancing down at the notebook in front of her just Remy looked away as well. Because of this she didn’t notice how his cheeks turned pink or the obvious embarrassment he felt for slipping up. She felt silly now for thinking the things she had earlier about him. There was no way a guy like him would give her the time of day unless she somehow miraculously got the job, and even then they probably wouldn’t become anything more then acquaintances. Certainly not friends. She tucked a lock of her blonde hair behind her ear before feeling like she could look up without appearing upset. She pushed the notebook towards him silently just as he asked if he could call her Lia, ”That’s a new one.” she replied thoughtfully with a timid smile, ”But sure, if you want.” The buzz of his phone interrupting the silence caused her to jump slightly in her seat. Like I said, she got scared easily. This had certainly been the strangest interview she’d ever had by far. ”Oh, no. I’m from Colorado… but I moved here for college.”

After finally recovering from his own little embarrassment completely, Remington was able to relax once more. "Colorado... I've never been there. Sounds kind of, boring." The state of Colorado had never even crossed his mind before. It was so far from New York, and it was definitely not one of those states like California or Florida - highly publicized. "Really, school? So, I'm guessing you go to NYU?" His mind wasn't completely focused, so the idea of the other schools in the state of New York didn't even bother to pop up. Besides, NYU was the closet. And as he peered over at the paper where he had her put down some of her information, by her address, he guessed NYU was probably correct. "I actually go there myself. I'm a sophomore." Just saying sophomore made Remy wince a little, an almost pained expression settling over his face. Whenever the words 'sophomore, junior, or senior' managed to slip past his lips, it automatically bought his back to his terrible years of high school. Usually he would just tell people it was his second year of college, but often he avoided the subject. He was not to sure on what to major in, so when people asked it made him mad. Not mad at them, but mad at himself for not knowing what he wanted to do with his life. Without even asking if she had finished, he slid the notebook over the table and examined it. "This looks good for a makeshift application." He nodded his head, silently praising himself for the brilliant idea. He closed the notebook, "I'll give to the manager when she gets back, and hopefully you'll start working by say.....Thursday." As the time for him to leave closed in, Remy's mind wandered back to the party. He should invite her out. His sky blue optics studied her one last time, before he decided to come to a conclusion. Maybe he would be able to bring her out of her shell a little, really get to know her before she began working there. It had been so long since he had had a good friend. Many steered cleared of Remy, just partying with him every once in a while. He was damaged goods, and even though he hated to admit it, it was true. "So Lia... I was wondering..." He paused, hoping to build her anticipation up a little. "Since it's like your first real time in NY, and it's your home now, would you like to accompany me to a party tonight?" He raised his eyebrow slightly at her, his gaze filled with some sort of emotion that might have been hope.
