Drew Skyes: She glanced down at the lion's den briefly before meeting his gaze. His words stung her broken heart, making her wish she wasn't how she was, but too frustrated because she couldn't be fixed. "I'm sorry," she said softly, eyelashes fluttering with tears before grabbing the railing roughly and trying to hoist herself over it onto the other side. She was done, gone, ready to be free of it all. The pain, the hurt, whatever else; done.

David Mabley ; ; Eyes widening, David could not believe Drew just jumped into a lions habitat. He understood overdose, cutting, jumping, but being mauled to death wasn’t a way he wanted to go. Looking around, the zoo was empty of tourists, leaving him the opportunity to jump over the railing easily. Keeping his eye on the lazy lions, whom seemed to take interest in them but not much right now from this distance, David moved towards Drew. “Get back here.” He grumbled to her, easily catching up to Drew.

Drew Skyes: Jerking from his grasp, she tried to walk further into the den, towards the lions. "Let go of me!" she screeched, hood flying off her head and wet hair whipping around her in her attempt to free herself.

David Mabley ; ; “No.” David hissed, a strong arm slipping around her waist. “You’re being a fucking idiot, Drew.” He said bluntly, not realizing in the moment he swore; only speaking his mind and trying to keep the girl from running into instant suicide. Backing up, dragging a struggling Drew with him, David kept his hazel orbs on the now curious lions.

Drew Skyes: Too hysterical to notice his cussing ( but hell yes she'd be bringing it up later...you know...if she lives...or whatever ), Drew fought him, even tries elbowing him in the gut, shrieking a bit more in hysterical frustration. "Let me go! Let me go David!" she cried out, shaking her whole body and sobbing, the lightning from the storm and the smell of the lions den and David's rough hold on her; it was so much. Drew was loosing all control, kicking and trying to get away from the only person in the world who wanted anything to do with her. And yet she was fighting him to let her die.
How great of a girlfriend is she??
When one lion began getting up, Drew barely noticed. But when two lions were up, and the first one was curiously prowling towards her, her green eyes flashed to them in mid-struggle and she turned her head, trying to pry David's arms away from her sides. All she could do was let out another yowl of frustration, and this seemed to scare the lions enough to retreat, not interested in the idea of loud prey. But the fear and reality of it all set into Drew's mind then, making her shudder and stop fighting against David, inhaling sharply with a sob and dropping loosely in his arms, shoulders shaking, tears draining, finally and completely broken.
But she didn't want to die.

David Mabley ; ; David finally was able to haul her towards the railing, coaxing her up before they got in trouble. Before finally tumbling over it himself. Breathing heavily, sore in places where she had kicked and beaten (the ankle he had shattered in the crash was throbbing the worst where Drew had nailed it perfectly). He knelt over, needing to double over slightly in pain and feel if it was swelling again.
“Stupid. Lions are carnivores, Drew! What the heck!” He shouted, now showing his anger. The calm demeanor slowly crumbling, replaced with worry and distress for the girl he actually did love.

Drew Skyes: Drew slumped onto her hands and knees, crying too hard to talk to him, body too sore and too flimsy to do much more than keep herself from pressing into the ground altogether. Her soaking hair dripped with her tears to the ground, the rain letting up slightly as she inhaled and exhaled in a panicked sort of way, heaving like she was having a breathing attack or something, when really her emotions were taking over every part of her and she couldn't stop them. Fear, sadness, pain, everything all at once and all she could do was try not to scream.

David Mabley ; ; Looking down at her, noticing quickly from his own experience with his mother and anxiety, David knelt down to Drew’s level. “Breath. Drew, calm down,” he coached, looking at her. Not knowing whether to touch her or leave the girl be. Whether he should just kiss her, hug her, hold her; what did Drew need right now?
Someone who loves her that’s for sure.

Drew Skyes: Still breathing so heavily it hurt her chest, she heaved and panted as she swallowed a little and grabbed for him, needing him, bringing him closer while squeezing her eyes closed roughly to block out everything else. As she crumbled into him, trying to steady her breathing but having a hard time doing so, she clawed at him further and gasped in a sob, curling into a ball in his arms. Her skin was littered with goosebumps and her wet hair stuck to her pale face, trying so hard to focus on something other than dying. It's what she felt like she was going to do, and the fear was taking her over way too much. So much that it was so hard to control, it induced a panic attack like she'd never had before. Inhaling, exhaling. Every breath in smelt like David. He was here, for her. She was okay. She wasn't in danger and wasn't without someone. She was okay. Because of David.
Breathing finally going back to normal, like a lost little girl, Drew brokenly slumped into David and cried.

Arms wrapped around her body, David looked confused as he held her. One hand moved in circles, slowly, comfortingly; dirty blonde hair sticking to his forehead and strands peeking into his vision. “Shh. It’s okay. I’m here, and will always be here for you.” David soothed, feeling slight warmth in the cold rain.

Drew Skyes: Drew sobbed into him shakily, pressing words through clenched and pained cheeks while her breath was still heavy and her chest heaved. "I'm sorry, David," she said, nose pressing into his chest, comforting her, feeling his soft touches on her back and reassuring her. She wasn't alone anymore. Why had it taken her a near death experience to realize that? She didn't know, but the guilt from the day before was back and even more crushing now.

David Mabley ; ; “It’s alright.” David repeated, holding Drew close, arms wrapped around her, his chin on her forehead and still his hand moved in circles on her back. “Everything will be alright.” He felt like a broken record, but she needed to know this. Drew needed to know that she was loved and wasn’t going to be abandoned. By then, the rain had lightened to a sprinkle and the sun was peeking behind the clouds.

Drew Skyes: How does one form the pieces together in order to build their sanity as one object once more? You pick yourself off of the ground, dust off yourself, and lean on the ones who care for you. And that's exactly what Drew did. Her shaky fingers pressed into the dirty ground and somehow got her feet to cooperate as she stood up and brushed her hands over her butt and thighs, pushing dripping wet strands of hair from her eyes. She was shivering from the cold, but gritted her teeth to stop them.
And surprisingly enough, she even offered her damp hand to David for him to take, green eyes still teary and broken, but forcing herself to stay alive. To be human on the outside at least, when everything else just felt dead. "I'm sorry," she repeated and her breath shuddered when she inhaled too deeply.

David Mabley ; ; David grabbed and held Drew’s hand, smiling brightly. “It’s okay.” He reassured, moving to hug Drew fully.

Drew Skyes: Drew withdrew into him, letting him hold her as she breathed. After a few minutes, her hand slid down and intertwined with his, moving her face from his chest to look up at him. "It's fucking cold," she said blandly, but there was a slight view of a smile. She would come back, but slowly. With David and her dad's and her family's help. The best side of Drew would come back and she would stop being so sad.
She stepped away from him and her foot splashed into a small puddle as she watched him, ready to leave and get out of the frigid weather with the boy she loved, and who loved her back, right beside her.
