Devin gave another shrug, rubbing the back of his neck, elboiw poking out towards Thea. "I can't be mad at someone that actually tries to get to know me. If going to jail made you decide that you wanted to get to know me, despite the rumors, then it was worth it. But I'm not going to a party again. Do you now get why I was so tentative about the situation?" He casted her a meaningful look. "If...those guys ever bother you again, then come get me. Though I'm sure I'll be on their minds the most." He cheekily grinned, more towards himself. His fingers absentmindedly drifted to several of the bruises that had already started to develop on his side. They were really sore to the touch.

Thea bit her lips together, guilt pulling at her gut as she pulled out into the main road cutting through town. "I'm really sorry I forced you to go. I was stupid. And they're bullies. Everyone who judges you and doesn't know you," she glanced at him with a tentative 'I'm sorry' look. "They can all rot in hell." She turned another corner so that they were heading towards the dinner. "Including me. I'm mostly sorry I judged you instead of listened," she looked at him in the corner of her eye, then back on the road. "And got you arrested." Thea laughed a little at that, finally pulling into the parking lot of the restaurant. She parked her truck and let the motor putter off. She turned to look at him in her seat. "Though, it kind of freaked me out," she scoffed honestly, studying her hands after pushing into her palm with her thumb. It was hard to look back up at him when her hands were just so interested. Some hair got in her side peripherals and she pushed it behind her ear hastily.

Devin shook his head. "Nah, I'm glad you screamed and attracted the attention. I would have been beaten up if the others didn't come along. And besides, I can cross 'going to jail' off of my bucket list." He explained, lips upturning into a sloppy smile. He ran his large hand through is hair, making it look ruffled and spiky. "I'm sorry if I freaked you out, but who knows what he would have done in that condition." He grumble, leaning over to open his door. He slipped out and rushed towards Thea's side, opening the door for her. "After you, mi'lady." He drawled, raising an eyebrow.

Thea's lips turned up in a subtle smirk, grabbing her purse and slipping out of the car after Devin opened the door for her. She stepped aside so he could close it and locked it with automatic lock. Her feet were poised on the sidewalk, waiting for him to follow. Once he was by her side, they moved to the front of the restaurant where she insisted on holding the door open for him.
The lady at the front seating people smiled up at them as they enter. The entire diner was decked out in fifties style; poodle skirts, records, elvis. A jukebox played old songs and an arcade area to the left was full of screaming kids and dinging sounds. Thea felt almost giddy in this place, like a little kid. "Two please," she told the woman who guided them with their menus to a booth. Thea slid in easily and got situated, determined to talk with Devin to hear what he had to say about...life. Maybe. Actually, she just wanted to know if he really did murder two people. She was weird like that.
"So," she looked over the menu. "This place is supposed to be known for their burgers. I'm about to dive into that," she joked, her eyes scanning over the options. Thea wasn't your usual 'lady', like most girls at school. Oh, don't get her wrong. She dressed sexy and fine when she wanted to, like today with a tight dress and clippy heels. But she'd only done it because she had a banquet to go to after lunch, where her father was being presented an award for something. Her hair was curled lightly and she'd even put on some lip stick (which she'd have to reapply after eating because she was a slob). But usually, Thea was perfectly comfortable in some jeans and a tight fitted t-shirt.

Devin playfully rolled his eyes at Thea when he caught up to her. He paused when she opened the door, and he tried to convince her otherwise, he wanted to be the gentleman in this situation. But Thea nonetheless won, and he was forced to walk in while she held the door open for him. He brushed his wrinkled shirt down, and offered a bright grin to the lady sitting people down to their seats. He sat down on his seat, which was across from Thea's, and shifted around until he was comfortable. He briefly glanced up at her before he focused on his menu. His eyebrows furrowed and his lips pursed in thought. "I'll just order what you order. I can't pick between everything." He scratched the side of his cheek, where a little bit of scruff had started to develop. "I only wish I could have had time to change out of this old stuff before we went to lunch." He had, after all, sat in jail for the whole night, without a change of clothes, a brush, and a toothbrush. "So...have you gone to this place before?" he asked, lifting his eyes, gaze wondering around the scenery.

Thea lifted her eyes to peer at him over the menu. "I just moved here about three days ago, so I haven't been around too much," she shrugged, going back to find what she wanted. "Mm, a cheeseburger with French fries and a vanilla shake," she bit her lip, putting down the menu and sipping some of the water already on the table.
Then, her eyes glanced over the clock, reminding her of the pending benefit later on that afternoon. She looked at Devin, smiling mischievously. "So... I might need to ask a favor of you."

Devin nodded thoughtfully, slowly setting his own menu down. He glanced up at Thea, and warily lifted an eyebrow. "And what might that favor be?" He asked softly, leaning back into his seat. His gaze never wavered away from hers, and he lifted his other eyebrow, patiently waiting for her reply.

Thea smiled at him, spinning her water cup around between her fingers. "Well, I need a plus one for my dad's banquet this afternoon. I can drop you off at your place to get dressed a stuff...but you're the only guy in this little town I've met so far that seems date-worthy," she told him, her eyes flickered up to him which made her forget about her spinning cup. The contents spilled all over the table as the cup clanged to the floor and Thea's eyes widened, reaching to grab some napkins from a canister by them. Very smooth, Thea. she thought, dabbing at the water as best she could.

Devin blinked in surprise, instantly straightening up. "Really?" He asked, obviously shocked. Surely there were better guys? But of course, she hadn't met many guys. He sighed, scratching at the back of his neck unsurely. "Well, I suppose. So...I have to act like your...date?" He was confused about this situation. His eyes drifted down to the spinning cup that was unintended and he desperately reached for it; but it was too late. The cup had fallen with a clang, leaving the contents of it stretched along the table and floor. Suddenly his face lit up in a chuckle, eyes crinkling at the edges. He reached for more napkins and tried drying the table with Thea, careful to avoid her hands. "So...I have to wear a suit?" He asked curiously, dark eyes drifting up to meet hers.

Thea was a bit exasperated over the whole ordeal, dabbing up the remaining water with a embarrassed flush to her cheeks. Her hand sloppily threw the mound of doused napkins aside. "No, just dressy. Button up, slacks," she looked up at him with a shy smile. "And you'll be of like...an escort." Her hair was thrown over her shoulder to get it out of the way (she had a butt load of hair) and she pursed her lips as she waited for an answer. "Not to be weird or-or anything-" she gestured with her hands; just making thing that much more awkward. God she was a loser.

Devin grinned, collecting his own wet napkins, placing them on top of Thea's. "Your not being weird. I understand. And okay, I'll be your escort." His lips parted to reveal a white smile. "We'll just have to stop at my house so i can quickly dress." He leaned back in his chair, brown eyes curiously wandering along Thea's face. His grin automatically brightened. He wouldn't admit it, but he was glad someone was trying to get to know him despite the rumors. Especially a girl. He casually tilted his head, eyes trying to spot the waiter's or something that would hand them his meal. He was hungry now.

Thea felt excitement flush through her. Maybe this banquet wouldn't be torturous after all. "Okay...cool," she smiled widely at him. Thea was a bit dorky and awkward, and Devin's smooth attitude kind of left her in a heap of the 'I'm weird' pile. She'd never been good with being herself; always playing a role at the different schools she visited. When she decided to just be herself, things got a lot more complicated. She used to be the best at talking to boys; actually snagged them like flies and took pride in that. But now, now that she had no stereo type to fulfill and could just be herself, she realized how horribly uncomfortable she could be if she thought too much over one subject. Like asking Devin as her escort to her father's banquet. Oh boy.
The food came ( cuz ya they already ordered don't you know ) and the waitress asked if they needed anything else. Thea just smiled at her, shaking her head. "Not for me." Her eyes looked at Devin, still smirking like a dreamy little girl.

Devin shook his head at the waitress, and offered her a polite, charming grin. "Nope." He smiled at the waitress again before he turned to face Thea. He raised an eyebrow at Thea's smirk, and he smirked back at her. "I must warn you, I don't have polite food manners." He grinned at her, attention turning to his food. He glanced gleefully over the yummy sight, before he just started to dig in, shoving a few french fries in his mouth before he picked up his burger and took a bite out of it. He was careful to chew all of his food before asking. "So, tell me about yourself. Other than that you moved here a few days ago and your father is holding a banquent." He expectantly waited for her her reply, an easy going grin still glued onto his face. His gaurd was down now, and he barely acknowledged that fact.

Thea popped some of her own french fries in her mouth, not minding his eating habits. "Well," she spoke past the food, then swallowed. "I'm not exactly that interesting. I like to try new things. Be girly. Be aggressive. Play the damsel," she feigned like a damsel in distress. "You name it and I probably would like it. I like to act; except maybe I take it to the extreme sometimes," she laughed at the, biting onto another french fry as if in thought. "I have one, two three..." she counted on her fingers. "Three siblings. Two half and one full," she was smiling now at the thought. Her hair swept back over her shoulder and she tossed it back in it's spot so she didn't get food in it. "But I don't like fish," a slim finger pointed at him, serious faced, and then she giggled while leaning back in her seat. "I don't know what else to say," she shrugged though a smile still littered her features. "What about you?" she asked, leaning forwards again and noming on another fresh fry after dipping it in some ketchup.

Devin nodded with a smile, taking another bite of his large burger. "Sounds pretty cool," He fell silent when she asked if he would tell her about himself. He placed a few french fries in his mouth, chewed them, and then cleared his throat. "Well, there isn't much to say...I keep to myself in most cases, because of what the others say. I live by myself, though I'm not legally an adult. I like doing exhilerating stuff, and I really like music." He gave a shrug, smiling again. He kind of guessed what she was trying to ask, and he didn't really want to even explain that to anyone right now. And if he did, they would have to be really close.
