Bryn felt her heart race to her toes like a rock. "W-What?" she asked him, her bottom lip trembling. All this time Bryn had thought that Kayden hated her, that he despised their past together and wanted nothing to do with her. Her shaky fingers reached up to touch him, any part of him, just to know he was still there in the darkness.
"But y-you hated me. Kayden...you told me that day you would never loved me," she tried hard to make sure no tears slipped down onto her cheeks, but her throat was burning with the sensation. Hearing Kayden say those things, it made her instantly doubt it. Every time Bryn had an ounce of faith, it was crushed by reality. She thought her parents would be there for her - boom - dead. She'd thought Kayden loved her and then he'd rejected her in front of the whole school. So she had every right to not believe him when he said these things to him.
Her whole body started to shudder from adrenaline. With Kayden so close to her it was hard for her to contain her emotions. She dug her nails into the sheets as she could to control herself.

Well that hurt.
Her words bore into him like a drill. Here we go again. That pain. It was back again to play inside his head - wrecking everything it came in contact with. His sensibility, his actions. Thinking about that day just made it worse. He remembered those words oozed out of his mouth equal to dumping toxic waste. It was only a way for him to better prove to his friends that he was "cool". Had he really meant them? No. But Bryn didn't know that. At the time, Kayden didn't either.
But in this moment, it was become clearer to him just how much he could hurt people with just words. They had obviously stuck around with her for much longer than with him. The sounds of the sheets moving and the way her body started to tremble in the moonlight only confirmed this.
"Bryn." He started once again, but this time pausing so he could collect his thoughts in a sensible manner. "I didn't actually mean that." Each word was very carefully pronounced. To be honest, he wasn't sure how to reply. He wasn't sure how words could fix the past. "I'm sorry." was all he could think of. They were said time and time again during this eventful night, but they were all sincere. He felt he could spend the rest of his life repeating those words and it would never be enough to make up for what he had done - but he could try.
What he really wanted to do was wrap her up in his arms, to attempt to comfort her. As his body relaxed and hunched over his slightly bent knees - he couldn't get himself to do it. He was... scared. That's the word he was looking for. Just like he had been when he first started high school. Scared that he would be alone, just like he was at home. Scared that his life would be forever surrounded by that irritating silence that seemed to follow him wherever he went. It ached to carry that on your shoulders and as much as he tried to get rid of it, it was always still there - just lightened by the fact that he was one of the top dogs at school.

Bryn's bottom lip still trembled and finally she couldn't hold it back anymore. Silent tears started to break from the corners of her eyes and trail down towards her ears and his bed. She quickly covered her face with both her hands and her body shook even more. The darkness concealed her so that Kayden wouldn't see her cry again. That was until she whimpered slightly and her shoulders shook.
All this time she'd hated herself more than Kayden. And that was the truth. She harmed her body over her looks and the idea that really, no body loved her. The night Kayden said those harsh words to her, she went home and thought about ending her life. But the only person who knew that was her aunt, who had found her, passed out on the tiles of her bathroom floor. And she would protect that secret to her death, just like Bryn had made her promise. But all the hurt Bryn had been pushing away was flowing back into her with every word Kayden spoke. Those voices prodded her from the back of her mind and insecurities still ran through her brain even though he assured her all he'd said had been a lie. Bryn would never tell kayden that'd he'd hurt her so deeply, because then she'd be like all the others girls, driving for attention by slitting their flesh. '
Bryn found out long ago that cutting wasn't the answer. It didn't solve anything, and it definitely didn't make her feel better. She'd gained enough self respect for herself that she promised herself she'd never cut over a guy again. Aspecially one who never lvoed her in the first place. Guys would come and go, but Bryn was only on this earth one time and didn't want to mess that up over something some dumb boy said.
She was crying because, well, she regretted what she'd done. And especially because Kayden hadn't even meant what he said. Those words hadn't meant anything to him when they'd meant everything to Bryn. So her tears leaked her regret, the deep pools of wishing she never would've taken him seriously.
That whimper gave her away and she gave up trying to hide from him still. Her body shook with sobs, but she didn't dare move her hands away from her face. She couldn't look at him, or even image his figure there in the dark.

Kayden was sort of lost in his thoughts and worries - his ears only picking up the soft beat of his heart that came with these feelings. Every muscle was relaxed. Not in the good way, like after a long day at work - but in the heartbreaking way. The type of relax when your body gives up on you. Your mind is too gone in deep pits of depression and your body has no ability to move. Everything seems so hard to do, so scary and big all of a sudden.
What broke him, was the soft noises coming from Bryn. She was crying once again. Was it because he had hurt her? His biggest worries flushed his mind and he suddenly wasn't so frightened to touch her anymore. That relaxed state of his changed just a bit and he lifted one of his arms towards her. He was soft at first, but tightened his grip around her waist. It wasn't long before he pulled her into his chest and fulled wrapped himself around her body.
It was awkward at first. It's not like they hadn't hugged before, but it had been so long. He was so big now, and she was still so small. The difference between then and now made him have to readjust his methods of getting comfortable with her there. His body shifted this way and that, before he was finally able to relax. "Please don't cry." He begged, his throat tightening with each word. The smell of her hair forcefully made its way up his nose, and he didn't object. It was a mixture of his soap, and her natural smell he had known for so long.

Bryn jumped, startled at his touch, and then her body relaxed. His comfort was exactly what she needed when he hugged her. She was all worked up now and her chest heaved with the effort of crying. Kayden's touch was so familiar but also so distant in her memory. The feeling of him felt like tasting your favorite fast food after it went out of business. She'd almost forgotten the way he smelt and how soft his skin was. But unlike she remembered, he was strong, and bigger. He'd grown so much when she had not and now it was the weirdest sensation remembering him back then and experiencing him in this new moment.
Her heart hammered in her chest as she nuzzled into him, the sobs not stoping. She never really realized how much she missed this. Being held by someone. Not even her aunt had held her after her parents died; no one had. Bryn didn't have a mommy to run back to anymore or a daddy there to kiss it better. They were gone. And then Kayden had been to. The loneliness that encompassed her felt like it was slowly slipping away. The loneliness that had consumed her life since last summer.
Another whimper escaped her lips as she curled into a ball, bringing her legs to her chest and wrapping one of her arms around Kayden's bicep. She felt like a little girl, finally being protected after so much time of hurt. In that point in time she didn't really care what happened in the future. Bryn had Kayden, for now, and it felt so good it hurt her like a pain in her chest.
The funny thing was, Bryn hadn't broken down since her parents death like this. She knew no one would hear her cries anyways. A few tears here and there. But now she was sobbing like a blubbering baby; the ugly and pathetic cry you do when you're really broken. And you've hit rock bottom.

Kayden wasn't sure what to say anymore. Words choked up in his throat and eventually he was just sitting there. With this girl he cared for and loved so much sitting in his arms. Her sobs bore deep inside his chest and he could feel some of her tears wetting his shirt. He didn't mind at all. This was what she needed for the moment. Though he wasn't exactly sure the cause of the salty droplets running down her cheeks - he did know that he was trying to comfort her.
His grip around her only tightened as she continued to sob. With a soft touch, he rubbed her back in a circular motion like his mother used to do when he was extremely young. He would get a boo-boo and his mother would wrap him up and rub his back until the crying stopped. Then she would be on her way. Kayden knew this was different. He wouldn't walk off like his mother. He wanted to stay around and care for Bryn - be there for each and every time she got upset. The path to healing is long and hard, and though he didn't quite understand this yet, he was ready for it.
"Don't worry Bryn." He said as he burried his face in her hair. "I won't leave you again."
and it was the truth.

Bryn's sobs slowly started to end after that. She shifted her body and leaned back to look at him. "Can I sleep here tonight?" she asked, rather pathetically. But she didn't think she could go home after all that had happened, and it was about three in the morning.
Before he could answer her, because she wasn't one for manners with him, she crawled over him towards the top of his bed. She didn't want to look at him straight on while she was so weak, so she just pulled him along with her and led him behind her back. There were no thoughts in her head besides one major one; she was exhausted. It had been the second longest day of her life. She didn't care if he thought or anyone else thought that this was sexual. Sliding her feet under the blankets of his bed, she laid her head down on his pillow, breathing in his scent as she did, and gently ushered his arm for him to follow. Bryn sniffled slightly before shifting herself to get a little bit more comfortable.

"O-Okay." He replied, following her quickly to the top of his bed. Now that it crossed his mind - he was exhausted. He was just to jumbled in the head to even realize it. As soon as he seemed to scramble under the sheets, his body collapsed into place. Bryn's body heat radiated with his, making the freezing sheets warm up quickly. There was slight hesitation as his eyes moved across Bryn's features - but then he gently moved his arms around her body and pulled her close. It wasn't that he was cuddling up with her in a romantic or sexual kind of way. He just wanted to be there, and make sure his presence was know. That he wasn't leaving. Plus, it was freezing and she was warm. With her hair poking him in the face, he closed his azure eyes and drifted off into a slumber. That wonderful smell of her hair was the last thing he remember breathing before he was out like a light-bulb.

LE TIME SKIPEH}
Bryn's eyes fluttered open when she heard a knock on her door.
Except, she wasn't in her room. That wasn't her door. Her heart dropped into her toes when she realized that a person's arms were wrapped around her and someone's breath was tickling her ear. She slowly turned her head to see Kayden's sleeping features, ridged as a board. Then memories of the night before came rushing back to her and she instantly relaxed, sighing with relief. That was, until another knock sounded at the door. Oh no. Oh God no, she thought and sat up quickly, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as best she could, still a little groggy. "Kayden," she whispered and pushed on his bicep shakily to wake him.
{ Okay in like every movie I've always seen the guys wake up like a little too happy...and I've always thought that that'd be such a rude awkwaening like HERE'S JOHNNY sorry random thought }

Someone was calling his name. He wasn't sure who, but it was slightly irritating. He mumbled and groaned incoherent words as he rolled over onto his back, releasing his grip from around her waist. Everything around him was just groggily understood. He was in his own bed, comfortable, warm. But that irritating knocking kept waking him up from his dreams. Another groan echoed through his throat, escaping from gently parted lips.
"Kayden!" Someone yelled behind the gray doors, it's voice feminine yet firm.
Kayden finally came to, slightly remembering what had happened the night before and falling asleep to Bryn's scent. Bryn. She was still here. Oh. Shit. That large body of his bounced up quickly and his eye shot open. Gray sheets when flying off his body. They landed near his feet exposing his boxers and a bare chest. Now he remembered that drring the night he had complained about it being too hot. He must have still been asleep when he took his clothes off to sleep like he normally did - in his boxers. Not those loose ones most guys wear, but the tight, Calvin Klein underwear. The kind that basically showed everything you had to show... down there... Normally this wouldn't have bothered him, had he not woken up with every guy's nightmare. Well, a nightmare only when there was a chick in the bed and they had just exposed what he should he hiding under the sheets. Well, there it was to say HELLO - no hiding it now.
"KAYDEN!" The voice yelled, even louder this time.
He began to scramble, attempting to hide his little friend. That face of his turned so bright red it almost looked like someone had painted his face. He didn't dare look at Bryn, not even glance over at her. All he did was take the gray sheets and shove them up to his waist. It was all he had time for, before that gray door of his soon started to creek open.

All moisture from Bryn's mouth disappeared and her eyes widened. She knew about Kayden's area down there, in fact when they were really little she'd even seen it once. But the fact that it was there, and largely in her face, she could barley breath let alone think.
And the reality set in. The familiar voice Bryn knew so well, Kayden's mother, was calling into the room. And Bryn was half naked. In Kayden's bed. Where he was also half naked. This was going to be the most embarrassing thing that ever happened, Bryn thought, slowly shifting her eyes from Kayden's junk with a blush and pulling the sheets up to cover her warm bare legs. She didn't even have a bra on and her ex's mother was oging to walk in on them like this.
Oh Holy Fucking Shit, she thought and braced herself for the worst.

That short, blonde hair soon poked in past the door. Familiar, no doubt, of Kayden's mother. It seemed that over the years, her hair had gotten lighter and lighter each time she went to the salon. Now it was almost completely a bright, platinum color. Her skin too, had changed over the years. Instead of lightening - it had gotten darker, more freckly and taught. If she wasn't at work, or out with her friends, she was at the salon or in the tanning bed. It wasn't odd to Kayden now, every time he saw a change in her features but she wasn't exactly the person he wanted to see walking in his door.
She wasn't even supposed to be here. She was supposed to be off in some other city, in multiple meetings or something. Whatever she was doing, it was supposed to be away from the house. That woman wasn't supposed to be calling his name and entering his room.
"Kayden, you left a couple dishes in the-." That's where she started and stopped. As soon as that door swung completely open all was revealed. Two awkward teenagers, face reddened and bodies hidden, were sitting in the bed together. Their eyes were staring into her's just the same as she had been staring at them - with complete shock and fear. Kayden opened his mouth, as if to say something but couldn't find his voice. His mouth was suddenly too dry for all of this. His mind was completely blank. There was a silence in the room and it hung heavily in the air.
It was only broken by the slight shriek that escaped Kayden's mother's mouth. At first, she had hidden her body behind the door like she would for anyone else but then her motherly side kicked in. "What the FUCK!" She screamed, slamming open the door and running over towards the bed. She hadn't gotten the chance to really see who was in the bed. All she saw was long, girl hair and that set her off. One thing about Kayden's mother, she was never around and didn't ever seem to care about anyone but herself. but when rules were broken she sort of went berserk. "Get out of bed, now." As she said this, she tore off the sheets from the two - exposing them to the cold. Immediately, she regretted this. Her eyes sprung towards the little present Kayden had inside his pants. Her tanned face seemed to go white as a ghost.
After that, she quickly stopped and turned around. She made her way back towards the door and without turning around let out a strong command towards the boy. "Kayden. Get dressed and meet me downstairs." Her words spilled out like acid. It went all over the floor and made it's way directly towards Kayden - who's face was so full of shock that he couldn't get his body to move.
At least his little friend was starting to die.

All the blood in Bryn's body seemed to go cold. "M-Mrs. Marton!" Bryn called, scrambling to get out of bed and chase after the older women. Bryn used to know Kayden's mother on a first name bases and had spent many deep moments with her - or as many as you can when she isn't around much. To have her catch both of them in bed horrified Bryn to the extent where she wasn't even thinking of how she should react and just did it.
She rushed after her and walked instep next to her. "Mrs. Marton I can explain," she begged, gasping a little at the sudden movement of getting up so fast and lack of sleep. Her blue eyes were wider than saucers, not believing what was going on. Then she realized, probably too late, that she should've kept her mouth shut. But she hadn't wanted to let her second mother get the wrong idea. Bryn didn't even care what Kayden thought or said. Luckily, she'd grabbed her dirtied egg pants while running out of his large room and into the hallway, so she covered her bottom half with them as best she could, her cheeks on fire.
