As she flowed on with the conversation, picking up his change of subject and running away with it, Steven had his original grin on his face. One that wasn't forced. His eyes glittered again and Ryan cuffed him over the head. Steven laughed, smacking at his arm and running a hand through his messy blonde locks. He grinned at Alyss. "That might be true, but abstract is still a form of art. Ryan here can barely draw a stick figure." Ryan chuckled and punched Steven again who stuck his tongue out, again. They acted like playful brothers, jibbing each other and chirping each other to no end.
"Get out of here," Ryan said good-naturedly, laughing. Steven rolled his eyes and plopped down on the couch with his sketchbook. "Go on now, leave me to my work," Steven said with a yawn. He promptly put his sketchbook over his eyes and pretended to snore. Ryan rolled his eyes and gestured to Alyss. "Come on," he said, gently taking her wrist and leading her out of the living room. "Sorry about him, he's a total spaz, but you gotta love him." He added, smiling softly. They walked into a long hallway where their were three doors. He went to the one at the end of the hall and opened it. "And this is my room," he said.
The room was slightly dim, the dark curtains pulled. Lights hung from the ceiling at different angles highlighting some of Ryan's best photography. It wasn't a big room, with a bed and a small desk with a lamp and a closet door covered with photos that weren't for art. Some of them were of Ryan and his late mother. Some were of him and his late parents. Others just Ryan and his late dad, before the alcohol and the abuse. Some were off Alyss and him. Both young and smiling. Others were more recent, of him and his crew; Corey and Gracie. Others of him and Steven in art school. It was a collage of the good things in his life. Otherwise, besides the photos and artwork everywhere, it was pretty impersonal. Small, yet the lights made it cozy.

ALyssa felt herself relax when Steven started acting comfortable again. They all understood the dark times that life had brought them too but she was glad Steven was letting her move on, at least enough to finish a normal and optimistic conversation. She smiled back at him thankful for how welcoming he was being. Some people might have been angry with Alyssa, depending on how Ryan had told their story. But Steven seemed to appreciate her being here with Ryan. " well I'm glad to know that his basic stick figure ability hasn't changed, I was always better at that." Alyssa laughed obviously kidding she found herself grinning at how the two boys acted around each other. It seemed like Steven was good for Ryan, someone who was a rock or someone Ryan could rely on to come through for him. Alyssa used to be the only person who could do that. Following, Alyssa waved goodbye to Steven and followed Ryan further into the apartment. " no, he's great, really." She insisted smiling as she stepped inside Ryan's room. Admittedly she was slightly curious, they didn't spend a lot of time in Ryan's old room for the obvious reason of his dad being terrible to him. So she wanted to see how he handled his own room nowadays. It wasn't too large but it was cozy and made Alyssa happy as she carefully found her way around the room, pausing for moments to look at pictures and other decorations. She paused, seeing a photo of her, it was black and white she was sitting on her bedroom floor, laying on her stomach and staring at the camera with a slightly Mona Lisa esque smile. She remembered this had been one of those days, Ryan had come over after a rough day with his dad. Camera in hand and in need of someone to lean on, so they were happy that day....but why had he kept this? It caught her off guard. Shaking it off Alyssa set it down quietly and turned to him trying to gather courage to do what she had thought of since seeing Ryan for the first time in five year. " so....I need to do something and please just let me. " she murmured softly before, still shaking slightly, she reached out putting a hand on his cheek and leaning in....kissing him lightly. She was going to hell, oh god. But it was just what she needed, she needed him. To see if there was any kind of chance that the love f her life hadnt passed her buy. Crazy, definitely crazy.

Ryan watched Alyss move freely around his room. He smiled, watching her look over the photo collage on his closet door. He didn't remember the specific day. If he had bruises all over him, cuts and scrapes. He just remembered the camera and her. It was taken with an antique camera he'd gotten for his birthday a year before his mom died. She'd looked so perfect, on her stomach, her hair blazing over her shoulders and a slightly secretive smile on her lips. He remembered laying down in front of her, setting his camera off to the side and kissing her for the longest time. It had been a simpler time, a sweeter time. All they'd wanted was each other, and that's all they needed. He watched her set the picture down, and he assumed she'd move on. Ask him something, or say something to lighten the mood. It felt like a tension was ripping through the air, stifling both of them. Then, she spoke hesitantly, and looked like she was gathering up all her courage. He was surprised when she stepped over to him in two quick strides. She leaned up and kissed him. It came so shocking that he was motionless for a moment.
Then, ZING.
All the emotions that he'd kept inside flooded forward. He felt electricity in his veins, butterflies whirling in him like they were on fire. His arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her impossibly close. He pressed back, other hand on her cheek, threading in her hair. He felt like he was sixteen again. Kissing her for the first time, touching her, pulling her close. Warmth fizzling between them. He still had that damn spark.

logically speaking Alyssa should've pulled away right after indulging in her "experiment" or at the very least, she should've felt guilty. She was engaged, to be married, to a man that wasnt the one she was with at this very moment. Despite all of that, Alyssa didn't feel guilty, all she felt was happy. No, happy didn't begin to describe how she felt when she kissed Ryan. Her heart felt ready to pound right out of her chest, like hundred of hummingbirds were trapped inside. For a split second, Alyssa worried that Ryan would reject her. Realize that this wasnt technically right and push her away to make sure they didn't make a mistake. Only that didn't happen, and thank god because if Ryan had let go of her again then she was sure there would be no way to fix her. But soon enough Alyssa wasnt thinking anymore, rational thought was a thing of the past. All that existed was her and Ryan and the fire that burned all over her skin. All of it was instinct, as if no time had passed since their last kiss five years ago. Her arms wrapped tightly around his neck as she deepened the kiss, she couldn't breathe she didn't want too if it meant parting from Ryan. All of their time together came rushing right back, exactly how euphoric it was to have Ryan touch her again, kiss her again, maybe love her again. Alyssa pressed closer and closer trying to get rid of any space that was between them, she needed to have Ryan with her. Slowly she found it wasn't enough and in another attempt she stepped backwards, pushing herself up against the wall with Ryan in front of her. Air became necessary and Alyssa pulled back just enough to breath, it came short, and finding herself cold, lonely without Ryan's lips on hers she pressed her lips to his again, kissing him but all tentative nature was gone. She had missed how alive Ryan made her feel.

Ryan felt her pull them both backwards, thumping somewhat harshly onto the wall. His arm lifted above her head, bracketing her face with his arm and fingers tangling in her hair and dragging her close. His one hand slid around her arching back, their bodies connecting. Through layers of clothes Ryan still felt her heat, her passion. He felt like someone had just awaken him from a sleep. He couldn't breathe, his lungs needing air so he moved his lips from hers, his lips grazing over her jaw and chin to her neck. He still remembered everything about her. How she moved, how so loved. Before it had been slightly tentative. Both unsure of how each other worked, but now, both most likely seasoned lovers, knew how to move. Yet, some of the hesitance was there, unsure if things done to one another still worked. His teeth grazed over her neck, but he didn't bite down, not really fancying giving an almost married woman a hickey when he wasn't the one marrying her. He moved back up to her lips, tasting fire as he kissed her fiercely.

Alyssa was totally lost to the moment, logic and reason were so far gone she barely even remembered what rational thinking looked like or was. There was nothing but Ryan, she couldn't get enough. Ever. She was insatiable and there was nothing she could do about it but just try to keep getting closer, remind herself of ever curve and touch of his body before her. Even if they weren't doing anything more than kiss, Alyssa felt more connected with him then she had ever since he'd left her. Alyssa found herself remembering everything that had been between them before, not just physically but how happy she'd been to just be around him, have him there to understand or listen or make her laugh. And Jason didn't do that.. Crap. Jason. Remember that guy? Her fiancée. All heat was gone by then and the guilt came roaring to the surface as she pulled back. Breathing hard as she fought to find her voice " oh god. Ryan....we....I..." There was no cohesive thought. She just held up her hand, and saw that damned ring. What the hell was she thinking.

Oh. Ryan opened his eyes, blue swallowed up by a blown black pupil. He looked at her, lips feeling bruises and raw. He looked at her, the guilt on her face and then he felt like he was being punched in the stomach. He sighed, looking away, running a hand through his short dark hair. He took a deep breath, panting and breathless. His cheeks felt flushed and he gazed at the ring. The glittering diamond that was way too gaudy and big on her slender finger. He remembered the small black box on his desk with his mother's smaller ring. "God, I'm so sorry." He whispered, looking at the ring. "I shouldn't have, god," he trailed off, blinking, feeling really guilty.

alyssa wanted to say something because it wasnt Ryan's fault. He'd been a title gentlemen and not made any sort of move. Clearly she was insane for trying to. But she hated that look on his face, hurt, confused guilty, like all those times he'd show up on her doorstep because there was no where else. No one else who loved him the way she could. Instinctively she went to put her hand on his cheek, comfort him but stopped midway. He isn't the guy your marrying a voice reminded her so Alyssa stopped midway and instead wove her fingers through her own now unruly golden locks. Shaking her head Alyssa slowly backed up, fighting tears. She had to go, now she was leaving him. Because this was wrong and five years had gone by and Ryan didn't belong to her anymore. " I...I have to go. I'm so sorry Ryan" she whispered and quickly ran from the room, muttering a split second goodbye to Steven before slamming the door behind her. Unfortunately Ryan didn't know, but Alyssa was on her way to end the engagement because even if she didn't end d up back with Ryan. It wasnt fair to her or Jason is she could fall in love with someone else.
