The forest was quiet. Nothing seemed to rustle. At least, nothing that Roman noticed. The cabin was pretty big, elegant, but simple. Large, tinted windows took up the lower, right-hand portion, while the top floor curved up with smaller windows and skylights for an abundance of natural light. The wrap around porch was decorated sparsely. It was made out of wooden logs, as one might assume. Roman hadn't been here much in the last few years. Remy seemed to get along just fine alone, and Roman sneaking off was noticed more now with him expected to be king of the Tigers. Sometimes he came out here to decompress, but he bounced on his toes. He expected his mate any second. It seemed like an eternity, since he last saw her. He didn't know how Remy dealt with it. So Roman lit up a cigarette, the scent calming to him. It was growing chiller, but he felt heat flare out from himself, the more his anxiety rose, the hotter his inner core got. His tiger paced, yearning to see his wolf. Odd thought. His wolf. Roman glanced towards the house, and thought of his older brother. At least Shaya would meet one of his family members, even if he was assumed to be a 'coward' for 'committing suicide'. Whatever. Roman wasn't worried about Remy, he was worried about Shaya. Even, Roman, who wasn't a healer by any means could feel the sadness and grief that wrapped around Remy so tightly. There was a softness to his brother, an overall sadness, even the smallest of his smiles seemed to be tinged with lost. He didn't know how Shaya would take it. But Remy had told Roman he'd stay back from Shaya. Not allow her to take the pain away.

The last thing Shaya would've expected would have been driving down a dirt road that was bumpy as all hell to hide from her mate's family and her own in order to stay alive, while still being with her mate. What a clusterfuck. Still, here she was, driving down the little road in her little Hyundai sedan. It was a sleek black, obviously well-loved and well-maintained. It should be, since she'd bought it herself a few years ago. Trey didn't allow her to really have a job, but Shaya had saved her money for years - something she'd learned from her mother. When her mate's sibling's cabin finally came into view, the she-wolf released a sigh of relief. It was beautiful; homey, but modern. She'd been expecting a damn hunting shack, but at least she got a nice little home to hide out in. The next thing she was aware of was the lingering sadness that seemed to be embedded in the walls and the land; every little piece of dirt held part of the emotion, part of the agony. Instantly, she had a wicked headache. Yay. Growling with annoyance, Shaya pulled her car up to the cabin and parked it, pulling the key out of the ignition before she stepped out of the sedan.

Roman puffed out three rings of smoke before a sleek black car rolled up around the bend. He dropped his cigarette into the ground, crushing it into the dirt. He heard the car wheels stop and the ignition shut off. He stood a few feet from it and crossed the distance to her. He instantly found himself drawn to Shaya, his mate. All his. "Thank god your safe." he whispered softly, drawing her in for a hug, inhaling her cool scent. His fingers laced through her hair, drawing her face up so he could kiss her. He pulled back, but kept one hand on the center of her back. "Welcome to the Hawthorne cabin." He said, glancing up at the structure. It was cozy, but looked a bit lonely. Had that vibe about it.

Shaya sighed, her wolf relaxing at the contact with her mate. She and her wolf had been antsy for the past few days, as Shaya secretly packed her things and sneaked them into her car. She rubbed her cheek on Roman's chest, knowing it would comfort him and his cat. She switched her gray-green gaze to the cabin, eyeing it with a tilt to her head. "It'll do," she sighed dramatically, obviously kidding. She would have liked if his family could accept her and vice versa, but that just wasn't the case at this point in time. Secretly, Shaya plotted to trick whoever was hurting into letting her heal them; she would not be dealing with the emotional turmoil, thankyouverymuch.

Roman's cat felt content, relaxing and Roman seemed to smooth out and relax. He laughed softly, and slid his fingers into her own. "Let's get you settled." He said, smiling softly. He gently pulled on Shaya, and together they walked up the steps into the house. It was warm inside, naturally, since two tigers lived there. It felt cozy, a fire roaring in the wide open space that opened from the front door. It had book shelves, natural lighting, and overall a ton of large, fluffy chairs. In the corner glistened a mahogany baby grand piano. Roman squeezed Shaya's hand gently, feeling the warm glow cast from his brother just before he walked in. Remington Hawthorne was much different than Roman. They were obviously fraternal twins, Roman being very tall, lanky, and overall having the model-like looks of his mother. Remy was all the handsomeness of his father, without the cruelty. Instead he had an almost graceful and silent way about him. His hair was dark, his skin was pale, and his cheek bones high. But that is where the resemblance ended. Remy was much shorter, his hair wavy and a bit longer, and eyes holding a distinct green hue. Remy smiled gently, and there was a soft sadness to his eyes. Roman smiled. "And this is your host, Remington Hawthorne." Roman said, his voice slightly mocking as he squeezed Shaya's hand again. Remy rolled his eyes, ignoring Roman's tone. "Welcome, Shaya." His voice was soft, a rolling purr and a little raspy. He held himself proudly, unlike Roman who sometimes slumped a bit. "Call me Remy." He said, walking a bit closer, but keeping his distance from her.

Shaya instantly felt overheated when she walked into the house. Though wolves were high social and thrived on social contact, their body temperature tended to run a bit lower. The heat from Roman was tolerable, because he was her mate. Two tigers stuck together and a fire in the fireplace was almost enough to make the she-wolf sweat. Her gray-green eyes shot to Remy, both Shaya and her wolf sizing up the new shifter. He was a Tiger, obviously, but his dominance seemed a bit more... subtle. There was little doubt that Roman could - and would - be king, but with Remy, Shay's wolf was a bit more hesitant. He was dominant, perhaps more so than her, but he was hard to figure out. And he gave her a headache, with all that damn emotion. Her nostrils flared as she took in the tiger's scent, relaxing as she finally deemed him safe to be around. "Hello," was the she-wolf's response. She gave him a pointed look that clearly said she could feel his pain and would be discussing it with him as soon as Roman left. There was no way she was living with all that freaking backlash. She cocked her head to the side, like a large dog, inspecting Roman's twin.

Roman could almost feel that Shaya was about to break out into panting. He glanced at Remy, whose smile curled into a softer version of the one he'd had before. Remy could tell that his twin's mate was suspicious of him. Who wouldn't be? He'd faked his own death, lived in a cabin in the woods, and had enough emotional pain to last a lifetime. Remy found himself smiling and tilted his head, much like a cat. He moved with grace of a cat, like he'd spent more time in that skin than his human one, which was true. He almost laughed, but it would have been sardonic and cold. He glanced at Roman. "I'll get your things," Roman said, squeezing her hand and gently kissing his mate's temple before walking out of the room and leaving the door open. Remy got the hint that it was hot in here, however he felt comfortable, even in jeans and a sweater. He turned away from Shaya, walking over to the fire and flipping it off. "Better?" The twin asked, raising a brow at her. He kept a careful distance, trying to keep the pain away. Yet it was hard. He tried to make it not as overwhelming as possible.

"Yes, thank you," Shaya responded. "You and I are going to talk later, when Mufasa is gone." She narrowed her eyes at him. "Hell, we'll get started now. Let's discuss healing, because the amount of emotional backlash coming off of you is giving me a hell of a migraine, and I can't imagine what it's doing to you. Your pain... it's become part of this land. Literally, it's like, soaked into the earth. I can't really explain it." With a sigh, she shook her head. "How you live with that shit is beyond me, but we'll talk about it later." She turned as Roman walked back into the cabin, carrying her luggage. "Thanks, Mufasa."

Remy didn't blink. He really did look like a cat. Growing still, staring at her. He finally looked away when Roman came into the room. Roman noticed the tightness in Remy's body, the way his fingers were curled tightly into fists that his knuckles were white. Shit. Roman turned back to his mate, rolling his eyes. "I'm not a fucking lion, dear." He said, his voice holding a teasing growl. He glanced up at Remy and found him smirking. "And if he's Mufasa, what does that make me? Scar?" Remy said, his voice teasing. Roman rolled his eyes, but Remy continued. "Why don't you take Shaya's things up, and then she can catch up, hm?" Roman narrowed his eyes. Even if Remy had relinquished his hold on the Kingly powers, Roman still felt the tug. He walked quickly with Shaya's luggage. Remy turned his light green eyes on Shaya. "If I may, Shaya, let me give a word of advice," Remy paused, his eyes darkening. "You can't take away all of my pain, however I do appreciate the offer. Maybe you can take away the grief, and the loss for a bit, but I'll always have the lingering pain. And even if you weren't mated with my brother, I wouldn't wish this pain on you, even if you are a wolf." He said, his voice soft. He was much stronger than he looked, a vibration of power behind his voice, although he held no control over Shaya, her being a different species, and her hierarchy running by bloodlines different than his own. Technically, now she was above him, but he didn't show it. He glanced up at the mantle, specifically of a picture of the twins and a boy between them about their age, but Remy looked away quickly, back to Shaya, waiting for 'Mufasa.'
