Caelan positioned the plate in front of her, smiling at Bethany, eyes only flickering momentarily back up at the guy she was so interested in. She had to admit, he was definitely a looker. They didn't have many cute men in Angel Falls, just two. Andrew Scour who was engaged to Peggy from the gas station and Lewis who slept with every young girl over and over again, never settling down. Caelan hadn't ever been interested with them, finding it easier to just go to New York so the pot of new, attractive guys got bigger.
The guy at the booth was obviously new, and his grey eyes and dark hair did most definitely give him a mysterious look. But Caelan wasn't very impressed by that, more so his story. She was always interested in a person's story, where they came from, their lives. When she realized the guy was looking back at her, she offered him a subtle wave, not afraid of his reaction. She was interested enough, being nosy as she was, to finish her good pretty quickly, offer Bethany a tip, and begin walking around the kitchen towards the guy finally. Her green eyes trained on him, a slight smirk on her lips. "New around here?" She questioned, not being slutty in any way, just getting straight the point, her chest covered and the only bit of her body over the table being her hand, resting on top of it as she leaned.

Troy hadn't been paying attention to anything around him. All he heard was the whispers, just more dull buzzing in the back of his head. Except it all shattered when he heard a voice invade his senses. He looked up, brows raising as he was startled. His gray eyes fell onto the girl who had been staring before. He could see it, her curiosity burning like two tiny flames in her eyes. It made his heart jump. No way he'd let a small town girl get to know him. She seemed genuinely curious about him, which ignorant wonder was the worst kind. She wouldn't stop pressing until she knew about him. And then she'd fall back, maybe spread rumors, and then he'd be gone. Like he was just a whisper in the wind. He came from a small town, he knew how things worked. A new person blew into town like a brilliantly colored leaf. But over time it was battered and stepped on and crushed into dead brown bits and the wind pulled the bits away again.
Troy kept his face impassive, his lips curling into a knowing smile. It didn't match her smirk, or curious eyes, but it held a hint of coyness. A guarded reserve shielded his usually so open and vulnerable gray-hazel eyes. Up close his eyes had flecks of a light brownish gold within the gray iris. His mother's eyes. The only thing he got from her. "What gave it away?" He asked, leaning back into the booth, almost as if to keep her at a distance. At arms length. It was a reflex, instinct now, but noticeable to anyone who wasn't used to being pushed away by just the subtlest hint of body language.

Caelan's eyebrows went up in a mock surprise at how he was acting towards her, but she kept her mouth shut about it. She hoped maybe her journalistic charm might have an affect on him, though by the movement of his body language and his sly comment, Caelan could tell her was smarter than she'd originally judged.
"Everyone knows every body here in Angel Falls," Caelan told him, leaning into her arm more, tilting her head as she studied him. Bethany was right, he did have great eyes. But Caelan was more interested in what was behind them. Mystery, feelings most likely. Maybe he was one of those tough guys, hard. Formed into what he was because of his past and coy when it came to social interactions. Caelan knew his type; hell, she'd dated it before. But it was also something in his eyes that made her still interested. He had a story to tell, she just knew it. She could see the headline now: Big Ego, Small Town: Men and their Pasts.
She studied him for a second, as if in thought, and tapped her chin. "And you are definitely not a face someone could forget. I'm Caelan, lived here my whole life." Caelan offered out her hand for a shake, deliberately leaving out the part about her moving to Manhattan and being a journalist. A good one never blew their cover before the story was captured. And with this one, Caelan could tell it'd be a long road before she got it. Her smirk was back as she said, "What brings you to Angel Falls?"
