Mike had ended up dragging an awkward Zoey onto the dance floor. “Come on, I’m a rock star and have fangirls and seriously if I don’t dance with someone some chick is going to come up to me.” Twirling her awkwardly. “Plus I can’t dance worth shit,” Mike laughed, dancing with the awkward girl.
It seemed everyone had a dance partner, Joseph was dancing with Carolyn, Harry with Sam, Annie snagging Aaron, Mei and Tommy, the odd kid Connie, Farlan had somehow ended up with Marco’s mother Eleanor and was laughing his ass off as chatted easily.
Except Levi. And Rose.
The young man looked over for the blonde girl he couldn’t see on the dance floor, noticing her in a corner and watching like he was. Of course, Levi had been asked to dance by some wedding attendees, but he had politely declined. Levi edged closer to Rose, finally appearing next to her from behind.
“Carolyn told me you mostly planned the wedding, and was Jane’s voice for ordering, you did a lovely job.” Levi smirked, grey eyes looking her way slightly. “Dancing, huh, I haven’t danced in awhile. If you don’t count Mike and I attempting to Just Dance in senior year and ended up tripping over the coffee table.”

Rose Palchak ( So this new song by Bethel that just came on started playing right as I read your post and it's a Christian song but it could also be like a romantic love song in the lyrics and omg I like fell in love omg )
Rose wasn't startled, surprisingly enough, as she heard the deepened voice of Levi beside her; it was a voice she'd always remember the tone of, yet had matured in depth and vibration. Swallowing, she didn't look at him, arms crossed over her chest, trying to keep every emotion at bay, like he was so good at so long ago. "It was almost perfect if not for the bastards they call chefs in the back messing up the dinner," she growled, but there was a soft smile present on her face. "Bastards," she repeated, looking out into the dancing crowd with the smile increasing on her face.
After a second, the smile was gone as she realized just who she was talking to now, after all that had happened. For a short second there, she'd flashed back to the times before with their funny banter, where she could just be herself and there hadn't been any time or space between them. But as she turned to him, not only did she not see anyone she recognized, but a complete stranger it seemed. He was taller, built, filled out. His skin with less pimples and his hair styles to that of perfection. A rock star image. And Rose didn't like it one bit, because to her, she was just looking at another cold billboard or magazine cover.
Softly, she turned back to the crowd, swallowing. She felt sick. This wasn't what their meet up was supposed to feel like, be like. Rose was supposed to still be in love with him and he was supposed to sweep her off her feet, but even if he did before the night ended, she didn't know if she'd want it. Because not only had Levi changed, but so had Rose. And quite possibly beyond repair.
Distantly, she began, "I've danced with plenty of guys." Now why the actual fuck had she said that? Cause she was mad. She wanted him to be mad too, she realized. So she wasn't the odd one out.

The young adult gave the woman he practically matured with a sidelong, longing glance. “Fine. I see you aren’t doing flips of joy to be talking to me.” His arms crossed insecurely, returning to look ahead at the dance floor.
“Then I won’t do front flips for you, but know…” Levi looked down, kicking a fallen direction with his converse. “I’m sorry, for letting you leave summer of senior year, finding my mother and spending time with them and not with you and the rest of the family, for going to college in Arizona, and becoming famous and never being around. Just know that I am sorry.” Because he really was, letting her go, becoming busy, and just letting the girl think that it was Levi; find a girl, toy with her heart, and leave. Guess he was just like the gossip magazines said he was, wanted him to be. With the fame that he never let get to his head money and having whatever he wanted-wise, he let it get to him and his constant time and being far away from others.
Soppy grey eyes looked over as Mike shouted something, making Zoey snicker with laughter.
“I just wanted to say hello, I-I don’t know the next time we’ll meet.”

Rose Palchak "Yeah, 'cause you're never around. Maybe it'll be ten years this time," Rose said bitterly, obviously not taking his apology at first, but when looking over at him, she found herself sighing. "Sorry. Too harsh. But you can't be sorry for life moving on, I guess. It happens. To the both of us. And you're not the only one who decided things. I was the one who left, remember?" Now she was doing the whole chasing after him thing and so she had to stop and think about it for a second. Hadn't a second ago she just told herself she wouldn't do that? Not ever again?
Yet, shaking her head, here she was. Doing just that.
Turning to him, her blue eyes wide, she took him in from head to toe, leaning forward to help fix his tie. "I swear, you and Harry can't do your ties right for shit. And to think, you're a rock star," she rolled her eyes briefly before smiling and awkwardly patting his peck when she'd finished, "All done," she whispered quietly, not looking at him before stepping back toward the wall as the song was beginning to hit the chorus.

Levi laughed, an honest laugh “I have four other band mates who are men and we all have no idea how to tie ties.” He shook his head, feeling his face go red; listening to the song quietly, watching the others dance. His fingers twitched, fiddling with each other nervously; Levi bit his lip, deciding that if the chase was going to end somewhere, then Rose had better damn well tell him it ended, or else they would be running in circles after each other forever. Really, Levi enjoyed running, but he’d much rather it be him and Rose running away together.
“Hey, uh, you want to dance? Jane would be disappointed if I didn’t dance…” The young man blurted, looking over the girl with a look as though he was seeing her for the first time. A hand crept up to pick up a streak of red in her hair, “guess I ain’t the only one who did new things.” His own hair was the same as always, longer, nothing special except for it was less ruly and wild nowadays and more tame, easy to style.
“Come on. One dance.”

Rose Palchak Rose was scared in that moment, it was true. She had tried to deny feeling anything but resentment toward Levi (cause it was easier to feel toward him) since they'd kissed so long ago...She'd tried immerse herself in anything but the reminder of him, his lips on hers, his breath fanning over her face, his hair tickling her forehead and making her practically swoon. With school work first, then college, and then work. But it was coming to the point where, even on dates with other guys, she saw Levi in their place. His plump lips, his dark, dangerous eyes, and even his soft laugh when actually did it, though it was a rarity.
And now she realized that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't him she was mad at it. It was herself, for still loving him.
Voice weak, frail, with what little fight she had left against him (though it was slipping from her grasp quickly now), she said, "Are you sure that's a good idea." Her eyes peeked up at him, filled with a terrified look in them. It was definitely visible that she was panicking at the thought of letting herself open back up to the idea of him, just for him to leave again. This one dance could leave him the same, easy going and not-caring Levi Anderson he'd always been.
But, for Rose, it might break every bit of her she'd tried so desperately to repair these past few years.

Levi Anderson ; ; “Well, I never got worst, so I won’t step on your feet but…it’s up to you.” His hand reached and wrapped around hers, pulling the woman towards the dance floor. “Let me know if I need to stop.” Levi said, looking back at the girl; beautiful, matured, grown, an adult by standards. And though Levi would be considered an adult, he never felt like one in the end.
Spinning Rose around, Levi felt them melding onto the dance floor with the other couples dancing. To some of the younger Palchaks, they would see two siblings dancing with each other. If Carolyn were to glance over, she would see the adoration in each other’s eyes as they glided across the floor. If Levi would look away from Rose’s wide blue orbs, he would see Marco nodding towards them and muttering, “We might win the bet with Harry after all.”
Yet, none of that mattered at all; the music and his partner, that was all that he thought of. Feeling everything drown out around him, like the tumble of the waves around him and Rose, lulling them into a dance of the waters.
“So, uh, remember when you left and uh…yeah. You left to live with your mother, and I-you know. Probably remember it as well as I do. And uh, I want to apologize for the signal I sent to you. But I meant it, it was realization—and I only got the kiss and never got to say ‘I love you’ and never wanted to have things be like this. This, circles, our lives being chaos. And I want to thank you for giving me enough time to realize it, being patient with my idiocy and asshole-ness…and well, dying, constant mixed signals and moodiness. Just uh, thank you.” Levi found himself babbling as he led them around the bodies on the dance floor, hardly feeling the glances of others, the music becoming the beat of his heart in his ears.

Rose Palchak Head ducking in embarrassment, Rose felt her heart hammering in her chest as the panic continued to overwhelm her. This wasn't what she wanted to hear. This was too perfect, exactly what she'd longed for for so long, but in such the wrong time.
Her eyes shifted from side to side as the world spun around them, stumbling feet nervous, complexion a bit pale. Her hand atop his shoulder and being grasped in his other was trembling with such force that it had to be obvious to his touch. With a shaky inhale, eyes wide as dizziness threatened to take her over.
"I can't...I just..." she shook her head before blinking up at him. "I'm so scared Levi," she murmured before blushing away. Stupid, why did she say that? That wasn't masking her feelings. Well, it didn't matter much anyway, he could tell she was emotional by now anyway. He knew her too well, despite the changes she'd come by.
As they moved, she was the one to feel the eyes on them. Every damn one. And that made her nerves push even more toward the edge, turning her head in every direction, like she was ashamed of this. In reality, she was in a way. Everyone had always assumed her and Levi would end up together, and dammit, right now Rose wanted to rebel against what everyone thought. It pissed her off their was a bet on their relationship, that everyone was expecting her to jump right into his arms the second he came back to her for four seconds, only to leave again and leave her heartbroken a second time.
"E-Everyone's watching, waiting for us to be back to where we were. But it's been three years," she looked at him sadly, slowly their dancing so she could make sure he was listening correctly. "Three years, Levi. You can't expect me to just-just-" she was frustrate now, not knowing how to say what she needed to say, and pulled at her hair somewhat. "Ugh! You don't get to just waltz back in here with you charming, sexy smile and suave personality and think I'll just be another one of your stupid fangirls, waiting at your every whim for you to give them a little bit of attention." Now her voice was raised, stepping back from him to hug herself, eyes a bit teary. "I haven't nor will I ever wait for you Levi Anderson," she sniffed, trying to keep down the looming lump in her throat. "And I know you're trying, but I don't know how I can reciprocate anything for you until I've told you exactly how I feel," she tried to explain, hoping her understood she wasn't rejecting him completely. "I can't reciprocate anything until you stop being perfect and tell me something that will actually make sense for once in our damn lives." Emotion was all but consuming her now, the music having stopped, people on the dance floor looking at the two of them with concerned glances. Realizing she was making a scene too late, Rose stopped what she was trying to explain and grabbed for Levi's wrist, pulling him toward the hall bathrooms with her heels clopping and dress trailing out behind her. After they left the hype of the party, the music turned back on, and Rose practically swung Levi into the bathroom hall, away from watchful eyes. Too soon, she realized she was very close to him, breathing heavily, and in the second things could get romantic, they didn't.
Rose started to cry. Pulling away from him, she brought the crook of her elbow up and with her wrist, wiped away her tears overflowing. It probably wasn't all caused by him, but as well as the stress of the night and craziness of her bottled finally emotions getting to her. Between sniffles, she snorted a laugh, trying to stop the embarrassing tears, "How do you do that?" When he looked at her in question, she continued, "Hide your emotions and act stone cold, like you always have? I can't even go five minutes with you without blubbering like Grandma Anne."

Levi Anderson ; ; Grey eyes stared sadly, he knew she was right; or at least those were the mixed feelings she was getting. “I-I know, and I realize I’m a bastard; but with my life I had to shield myself from people and emotions. I lead people on, I know that—then run away when problems arise or my thoughts settled in. Rose, I’ve had three years to realize that I…well that I’m sorry I’m like this. And I’ve tried, I have seriously tried to be normal and committed with a woman or two, and I can’t. Cause I’m chasing after a girl who I don’t think I deserve, I just have pined for since kissing her in the rain.” His finger moved to wipe away her tears, trying not to smudge her make-up.
“I will continue to chase you if I have too, forever in the breeze until I can pluck the rose and keep it for my own and protect it like the thorn I am.” He smiled warily, “but I’ll always be your brother if you want.” Levi placed a tentative kiss to her head, moving his hands to stroke Rose’s hair, softened like the petals of a rose.

Rose Palchak Shuddering at his touch, Rose closed her eyes and let him kiss her forehead, eyelashes fluttering softly before he was gone just as fast as he'd appeared. Shocked, was the correct word to use. Shocked at his words. He hadn't been with anyone seriously since her? But he was a freaking rockstar. How was that even possible.
But the warmth from his words was spreading all throughout her body, down into her toes, and made her say the phrase over and over in her mind: Maybe for one night, you can give in.
"Levi," she held out her hand, the tears drying slowly, palms pressed into his chest as she looked up at him, small smile beginning to form. "You stopped being my brother a long, long time ago."
And with that, pulling him by his collar smoothly, she pulled him close to her so that their lips brushed and they would be kissing if he wanted.

Levi Anderson ; ; “Oh really?” Levi smirked devilishly, brushing by her lips to her ear. “What am I then?” He chuckled, pulling back to capture Rose’s lips in his; pressing her against the wall of the hallway, satisfied for the moment, happy that he got her, caught up, he wrapped his arms around the girl he chased and had made her his.
Maybe he was being selfish, wanting Rose cause of the chase; but right now it made no difference, he was fairly sure that what he wanted and needed were one and the same. Levi brushed strands of hair away, just like he had done five years ago in the rain. The only way he would let Rose’s lips go would be to breath, even then it was quick gasps, before he was again making up for five years of being alone and without the girl.

Rose Palchak Breath caught in her throat, Rose kissed him back a bit forcefully, fingers running throughout his hair as her fingers pulled at the strands. The hem of her dress was being stepped on, but she didn't care at this point. Every second of thinking about him, dreaming of this moment, was being brought ou through the passion between their breaths and lips. Rose's layers in her hair fell into her face, tickling her cheeks, as she brought one of her hands along his jawline and pressed her body into his.
All too quickly, they were interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Holy shit."
Tommy stood, drink in hand (he was 21 and taking advantage of it apparently), and with his mouth wide in apparent shock. He had always been the oblivious one.
"Ew."
And the brutally honest one.
Swooning slightly from one too many champagnes, he giggled before hiccuping and twirling on his heel to walk right back where he came from.
Breathing heavily, Rose's shoulder jiggled in laughter as her nose pressed into Levi's cheek. "Here we go."
A few minutes later, the whole wedding party knew, thanks to Tommy's big mouth.

Levi Anderson ; ; Mike’s booming laughter signaled that he knew, he was dancing with all the siblings after all. He wolf whistled loudly, “ROSE YOU MAN STEALER.” He shouted down the hallway, cackling madly before the squeaking of shoes signifying him dashing away.
A chuckle escaped Levi’s throat, “we might as well face everyone, I wouldn’t want to traumatize anyone else.” He was pulling Rose back towards where everyone was, most of the crowd was family, some biological, most related to Carolyn and Joseph or friends. Many of them knew Levi and Rose, and those who knew them well (like the immediate Palchak family) weren’t surprised at all.
Levi was smiling, holding her hand as though she would fade away if he let go. Mike was instantly nearby, “Get it Rose, let me tell you what you’ll find is hot. Especially his bac- yeowch! Levi!” Mike’s obvious suggestive nature was cut short by Levi throwing some of the complementary candy on the table at him.
“Shut up,” Levi laughed, rolling his eyes fondly at Rose. “He’s always like that ever since the gossip magazine stated there ‘might be more than friends between Levi Anderson and Mike Zewlinski’.”
“But we’re hot, so it makes sense we hook up. Hey Rose, how does threes-” Levi’s eyes cut him off. “youknowhatIshoulddancewithMei.” With another wolf whistle and mutter of “man stealer”, Mike left them alone for now; Levi covering his face in embarrassment, pure red.
“I’m sorry, you know Mike.” He managed to gasp out from his stifled laughter.

Rose Palchak Cheeks red, Rose just covered her face in embarrassment and pressed her lips together after Mike had left. "If you ever need some dirt on him, I got plenty of work stories and secrets," she winked at Levi through the utter rosiness to her cheeks. Raising her voice, she shouted after Mike, "Like about Jenny Rae!"
Suddenly she remember that their hands were interlaced and she looked down between them, the connection complete that she'd longed for since she was a young teenager. Now, it felt right. Like their hands had always been meant to touch and twine together like the braided strings of fate.
"I'm sorry my hands sweaty," Rose said, which sounded the least bit attractive at that moment. But she couldn't help it, this was Levi she was with. She'd ripped farts in front of him, been farted on by him, ate like a slob next to him, and tons of other nasty, unromantic or appealing things with him because he'd been so close to her for so long. Now, she didn't know how to act...cute around him. Shaking her head, she blushed again, "That was no sexy wow," she lifted the back of her hand to her forehead to try and cover the burn of her cheeks.

Levi Anderson ; ; “I’ll have to bring up Jenny Rae in front of him sometime.” Levi laughed, swinging their hands. “No worries, I don’t care, you can be sweaty all over and I wouldn’t care.” He smiled, seeing Jane and Marco approach hand-in-hand.
“Harry owes us money.” Marco chimed with laughter, “we won the bet, but I just have to ask.” Despite his kind nature, Marco had learned to be mischievous after practically living at the Palchak house. “Do I need to call the pastor again?” He asked with wigggling eyebrows, chuckling at their reactions.
Levi spluttered, “no-no!” A tomato crimson had spread across his face permanently.
